Dipset Capo Jim Jones talks about his new partnership with funny man Mike Epps
Dipset Capo Jim Jones talks about his new partnership with funny man Mike Epps and their upcoming Christmas compilation and comedy special.
“I just met Mike’s acquaintance and he seemed to be a smart person as far as his business is concerned, so we gonna build the two as a marriage and make a lot of money,” Jones told SOHH.
The Diplomats previously tapped comedian Katt Williams to join their crew and even outfitted him with a Dipset chain but his album never materialized. Jones is confident that his new partnership with Epps will be a success.
“We’ll be the first people to really combine the two [hip-hop and comedy] successfully,” he said. “That’s what we were trying to do with the whole Katt Williams thing.”
The first release from Jones and Epps is a new Christmas mixtape, which will follow the format of the 2006 album, A Dipset Xmas. The new Koch Records compilation, Jim Jones and Skull Gang Present: A Tribute to Bad Santa feat. Mike Epps, will feature 15 new Christmas songs and comedic skits.
“It’s got a lot of funny Christmas stories,” said Jones. “You know, sh*t that happens when we was coming up and we giving you some real hard Christmas music. Get you a couple of Christmas carols in there, some Christmas struggles in there and put it on the shelves.”
In addition, Jones revealed to SOHH that he and the Next Friday actor are also planning to host a comedy special/musical performance in his hometown of Harlem. “I’m getting ready to do the big comedy special with Mike Epps,” he said. “It’s called from Hollywood to Harlem and the concert will be inside the Apollo.
