Shawty Lo & T.I. Clash...Fight Breaks Out At The Dirty Awards [Video & Pictures]
Things got out of hand at this years Dirty Awards in Atlanta, GA. Radio One’s fourth annual event, which honors the movers and shakers of the south. came to a screeching hault when the brewing beef between rapper Shawty Lo’s, D4L entourage and T.I.’s , PSC/Grand Hustle entourage reached a fever pitch.
While this year I opted out of attending the Dirty Awards [go figure] several eye witnesses told me that Carlos “Shawty Lo” Walker instigated this whole situation.
According the people I talked to, Shawty performed his version “Don’t I” right in front of Grand Hustle’s table – getting real personal with it. My peeps tell me that Capital records artist Alphamega loss his sh*t and tossed a chair onto the stage.
Rumors are that Grand Hustle artist Young LA and a host of other n*ccas bum rushed the stage, but authorities broke up the altercation before it got out of hand.
Shortly after, Tip took to the stage to accept an award and to also publicly request that he and Shawty Lo squash any old beefs between each other. However, it seems that Carlos and his crew wasn’t with the peace talk because during a performance with T.I. and the Grand Hustle family the ish popped off again, this time ending up with Alphamega getting arrested.
Luckily enough for all of us, a loyal reader quickly sent me over some video they captured while front and center to all the craziness.
Here’s a small snippet of what went down. Check it out.
FYI:Alfamega ended up knocking someone the f*ck out (”alledgedly it was Shawty Lo’s brother)
UPDATE:1:11PM
Lo puts full blame on the head of Grand Hustle records, while Tip could not be reached for comment after the dustup.
“I didn’t go and start nothing. If they rewind the cameras, they’ll see how it started,” told MTV News early Tuesday morning (November 25). “I’m a man. I respect every man as a man. If a man disrespects me, what am I supposed to do? T.I. needs to contain his people. We’re not standing down. I performed my music; 107.9 [one of the show's organizers] called me to perform. I didn’t come to start no beef with him. I gave Tip a shout-out at the BET Awards.”
As he was performing his hits such as “Dey Know” and “Dunn, Dunn,” Lo said that members of Tip’s Grand Hustle family, most notably artist Alfamega, came out of their seats, stood in front of the stage and started “mean mugging.’”
“Basically, I didn’t start saying anything about Tip,” Lo explained. “I was performing my music. During ‘Foolish,’ all of them was coming in front of the stage doing their mugging. After ‘Dunn, Dunn,’ I performed the dis record ‘Don’t I.’ That’s what made perform the dis record. I ain’t gonna lie; they was disrespecting me. I wasn’t gonna let them disrespect me.”
As Lo rapped the barb-riddled track some eyewitnesses said Tip’s crew started throwing chairs onstage. While Shawty said he cannot be sure who threw the first chair, he thinks it was Big Kuntry….
