As Jennifer Hudson landed in Tampa for the Super Bowl, there’s a boatload of money on the line over her rendition of the National Anthem at Sunday’s game.

Here’s the bet: Jennifer has sung that song before — and always goes 2 minutes and 3 seconds — from sea to shining sea. The bet: How long will she go this time?

Singer Jennifer Hudson, who took a hiatus after her family members were killed in a home invasion in October, will return to the spotlight when she sings the National Anthem at the Super Bowl next month.

Hudson will sing before the big game in Tampa on February 1. Which brings up a question. If she can sing at the Super Bowl on Feb 1, why can’t she perform at Barack Obama’s Inauguration which is less than two weeks earlier?

Well, my well-placed source tells me that Hudson and Obama fell out because Beyoncé was invited to sing at the Inauguration. And as you know, Jennifer isn’t feeling Bey right now.

Jennifer Hudson is using sports’ grandest stage — the Super Bowl — to make her return to the spotlight following the slayings of her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed Wednesday that Hudson will sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl in Tampa, Fla., on Feb. 1. E! News first reported Tuesday that Hudson would perform.

Hudson hasn’t made a public appearance since her 57-year-old mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson; 29-year-old brother Jason Hudson; and 7-year-old nephew Julian King were slain in Chicago in October. Her estranged brother-in-law has been charged in the killings.

Hudson, who had released her self-titled debut album shortly before the killings, is also scheduled to sing at the Grammys‘ MusiCares event in Los Angeles a few days later. She is nominated for four awards at the Feb. 8 Grammy Awards.

The 27-year-old Hudson already has an Oscar to her credit, a best supporting actress win for her role in “Dreamgirls.” The former “American Idol” contestant’s career was continuing its skyrocketing rise, with featured roles in movies like “Sex and the City” and “The Secret Life of Bees,” as well as her album release, when the slayings occurred.

The Super Bowl is one of the most viewed spectacles on television. Bruce Springsteen is scheduled to sing during halftime of the pro football championship game.

Jennifer Hudson will not be singing at Barack Obama’s inauguration on January 20, despite reports to the contrary, her rep told Access Hollywood. “There is no truth to this,” the rep said.

The New York Post reported on Wednesday that Jennifer was in talks to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the ceremony, but the rep told Access that the star has no plans to participate in any inaugural activities.

Jennifer Hudson has cancelled the first video shoot scheduled since the deaths of her mother, brother and nephew. The shoot was reported to be taking place early next week.

Last week, reports surfaced that the Oscar winner, 27, planned on shooting the clip for “If It Isn’t Love” in L.A. next week. But now it appears that Jen had a change of heart Because according to her rep, she won’t be at the video shoot.

A personal rep for Hudson referred to reports of Jennifer returning to work as “speculation,” adding, “The video shoot was never confirmed, so there was nothing to cancel.”

UPDATE – According to TMZ, Jennifer’s brother Jason was also murdered. Here is their report:

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Jennifer Hudson’s mother was one of two victims shot and killed in Chicago earlier today.

A neighbor tells TMZ the other victim was Jennifer’s brother Jason. A cousin who lived nearby discovered the bodies.

We’re told the two bodies were found dead on the scene at 2:44 PM. When the fire department arrived and discovered the bodies were already dead, police were brought in and the home was declared a crime scene.

UPDATE 2 – Police suspect that Jennifer’s 7-year-old nephew may have been taken from the scene. Police are looking for 1994 white Suburban with license plate X584859. If you see this vehicle, please call 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY!!!
