J. Cole Says God Helped Him Eventually Sign with Roc Nation
J. Cole talks about his path to success. He tells the story of first going to Manhattan, which he says he felt was inspired by God. J. Cole says that didn’t know that he would actually meet Jay-Z, but he did have a feeling that he would find a successful career path if he took his album to Manhattan and waited outside of Jay-Z’s office building. However, when J. Cole tried to give Jay-Z his work, Jay-Z rejected it. J. Cole says that moment was a turning point in which he learned he would have to earn his fame the hard way. Jay-Z approached him a year later, asking him to sign with Roc Nation.
