An Olympic effort! Samuel L Jackson wins legions of Twitter fans with his colourful tweets about the London Games
He is best known for his tough guy performances in the likes of Pulp Fiction and The Avengers, but now, Samuel L Jackson is winning a whole new legion of fans from the sporting world.
The 63-year-old actor has been busy giving his reactions to a multitude of Olympic events, with his followers impressed with his colourful language, enthusiasm and patriotic support of Team USA.
Following the Olympic opening ceremony on Friday, he wrote: ‘OK! Getting that MOLYMPICPHUKKEN Fevah! GO TEAM USA!!!!!’
But the actor wasn’t too impressed with some of the fashions he saw during the Parade of Nations in London’s Olympic stadium.
‘Okay, there were some real fashion f***ups in that parade of nations! Some I understand, others…’
Jackson has also revealed himself to be intensely patriotic, cheering on Team USA and closely following the rivalry between swimmers Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, with Lochte beating Phelps into fourth place at the weekend to take the gold medal in the 400 individual medley.
‘”I just gotta move on,”‘ prophetic words by Michael Phelps. LOCHTE SMOKED DAT ASS!!! Not even Bronze!’ wrote Jackson.
He also gleefully detailed other nations’ misfortunes while watching the gymnastics.
‘OK, s*** that makes us feel good. That Chinese gymnast FACEPLANTED! Another reason it’s not just good enuf to compete!’
Like much of the nation, the Pulp Fiction actor has been watching some of the more unusual Olympic sports, and has been tweeting about them with a passion.
‘Told y’all, ladies weightlifting drama!’ he wrote regarding the world record set by Zulfiya Chinshanlo of Kazakhstan in the women’s 53-kilogram category. ‘Lil babes picking up heavy s***.’
And even some of the judges in the gymnastics competition have found themselves the subject of Jackson’s commentary.
In one post he wrote: ‘Ahhight. Good Mupfughkean Beamin! Lookin’ solid. Still wanna put foot to those judges’ as*** though.’
Kayaking was also on Jackson’s list of sports to watch, although it didn’t sound like he was looking forward to it too much.
‘Prolly gon fall asleep to that White Water Kayaking,’ he wrote.
No element of the Olympics was safe from Jackson’s sharp eyes, with the star unimpressed with one NBC sideline reporter’s wardrobe.
‘Craig Sager is wearing NORMAL clothes!!!’ he wrote. ‘There has to be Olympic Pimp Gear available, I saw the opening ceremony!!!!
The reaction from fans to Jackson’s Twitter commentary is in stark contrast to the criticism U.S. network NBC has received for its coverage of the Games so far, with many viewers upset that it has chosen to show many events on delay rather than live.
