Whitney Houston Dead, Fans React

The shocking news of singer Whitney Houston’s death tonight at the age of 48 is making waves throughout the entertainment community. Fellow celebrities have taken to Twitter to send their first thoughts about the sad news.

Mariah Carey shared, “Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston.” Carey and Houston partnered on the powerhouse duet “When You Believe” from the The Prince of Egypt soundtrack in 1998. Toni Braxton said,” She’s paved the way for every single singer in the music industry. Iconic, legendary, innovating, amazing, humble…1 the best in the world.” Singer Nick Lachey added, “How tragic to hear about Whitney Houston’s passing. Such a shame. She had one of the most iconic voices of my lifetime. #rip”.

Details are still hazy around the singer’s death. Houston’s rep Kristin Foster confirmed this.
Per a televised press conference from the Beverly Hills Police Department’s Mark Rosen tonight, Houston died today at 3:55pm PST at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Houston was staying there in anticipation of her mentor Clive Davis’ annual pre Grammy party. Someone from her entourage called 911 and life saving measures were attempted and unsuccessful. There is currently an investigation to determine what the cause of death was. Conflicting reports are in the air if singer Ray J.–he had a longstanding on and off romantic relationship with Houston–was the one who found her body at the Beverly Hilton.

Rest in peace Whitney Houston. You will be missed.
